As a Shift Technician, you'll be an integral part of our operational team, ensuring the smooth functioning of critical services within our data center environment on a round-the-clock basis. Collaborating closely with your shift colleagues, you'll be tasked with swift emergency response and the operation of essential services, working from our facilities operation center. Your primary responsibilities will include stabilizing emergency situations as they arise and ensuring comprehensive coverage and monitoring of all facility aspects during your shift. Additionally, you'll coordinate closely with the day operations team to facilitate necessary electrical or mechanical switching activities for both break/fix and planned maintenance activities across the campus. Reporting directly to the shift lead onsite, your role will be pivotal in maintaining operational continuity.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and management during your shift.
Supervise the central facilities operation center and the shift rotation.
Maintain full awareness of all activities and collaborate with the day tech team and technical manager to prioritize tasks.
Receive training in the operation of all critical facility systems across the campus.
Monitor the Facilities Operations Center and respond promptly to all monitoring system alarms.
Assist the day tech team in equipment shutdowns/startups to support maintenance activities.
Provide detailed shift handover reports and maintain communication with incoming shift teams.
Ensure familiarity with the facility Emergency Response Plan and act as a liaison during emergencies.
Implement Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs) to maintain site and personnel safety.
Generate detailed incident reports and submit them to the CBRE supervisory and management team.
Ensure all critical notifications are up to date and properly closed out.
Utilize CMMS to report all facility-related tasks and ensure accurate recording of technician hours.
Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
Oversee subcontractor activities, ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures.
Review and approve operational documentation as issued by the shift lead and technical manager.
Maintain accurate activity logs in CMMS.
Qualifications and Experience:
Verifiable trade qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
Additional relevant training is desirable.
Understanding of LV power distribution and loading.
Previous data center experience is advantageous.
Comprehensive knowledge and experience of electrical and mechanical systems within a data center environment.
Familiarity with automatic control equipment and building management systems.
Experience with medium voltage distribution systems and associated switchgear.
