GemPool is hiring on behalf of an innovative client specialising in acoustic solutions for noise control, with a strong focus on the data centre sector. As a leader in providing advanced noise mitigation solutions, our client is experiencing significant growth and is seeking an ambitious Director to drive operations, strategy, and growth. The Director of Data Centres will oversee all operational, commercial, and strategic aspects of the business, ensuring alignment with the company’s expansion plans in the data centre sector. This role requires strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and commercial acumen to drive efficiency and customer satisfaction in delivering high-performance acoustic solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring seamless project execution and optimal staff performance.
  • Lead and develop teams across engineering, project management, and supply chain to ensure excellence in service delivery to data centre clients.
  • Provide commercial input into client contracts and negotiations, ensuring strong financial and strategic positioning.
  • Collaborate with on-site teams to optimise project performance and ensure solutions meet industry-specific regulations and compliance standards.
  • Implement and oversee cost and value reports, quarterly forecasts, and cash-flow management to ensure financial stability.
  • Define strategic growth plans, particularly for expanding partnerships within the data centre industry.
  • Develop and execute action plans to achieve commercial and operational objectives.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, ensuring high-quality product delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain and optimise budgets, ensuring cost-effective project execution.
  • Provide regular reports to the Managing Director with transparent updates on performance, progress, and challenges.
  • Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring adherence to all Health & Safety regulations.
Preferred Experience & Key Competencies:

  • Industry Knowledge – Strong understanding of acoustic solutions, noise mitigation, or mechanical engineering principles as applied to data centre environments.
  • Strategic Leadership – Experience in setting growth targets, KPI implementation, and strategic planning.
  • Commercial Acumen – Proven ability to engage with clients, negotiate contracts, and drive business growth within the data centre sector.
  • Project & Operations Management – Strong experience overseeing technical and commercial teams, ensuring efficient execution of large-scale projects.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork – Ability to foster teamwork and build cross-functional relationships internally and externally.
  • Motivational Leadership – Strong leadership skills to inspire and manage teams, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Technical Understanding – Sound knowledge of acoustic solutions, engineering principles, and compliance requirements specific to noise control in data centres.
  • Supply Chain Expertise – Experience in procurement, logistics, and vendor management for large-scale projects.
  • Technology Proficiency – Experience working with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
